Responding to the European Commission's Spring economic forecasts, which predict UK growth will be just 0.1% next year compared to the 1.25% predicted by the Budget, Timothy Kirkhope MEP, Conservative leader in Brussels, said:
"If the Chancellor wants to restore some confidence in the financial markets and in homes across the country, he could start by being straight with us about the tough few years ahead rather than giving us the usual spin that is discredited the moment it is uttered."
