Clarity at last for British air fares

Timothy Kirkhope MEP, former leader of the Conservatives in the European Parliament, has fought and won a battle in the European Parliament today to achieve full disclosure by airline companies of exactly how air fares are broken down.
The Degutis report updates the rules on the full liberalisation of air transport services within the Community. The Council's common position requires airlines to have full transparency in price lists offered to the public including details of taxes and charges.
Timothy Kirkhope MEP, Conservative Transport Spokesman, said:
"This adds much needed transparency for passengers. It means that website prices and brochure prices will become open and clear. It is the right approach to ensure that price rises are not hidden any longer."
