SAGA saved, thanks to Conservatives

SAGA saved, thanks to Conservatives

Giles Chichester MEP saved top UK companies including SAGA and Club 18-30, from being wiped out by EU anti-discrimination laws.

The European Commission’s proposal, which is aimed at outlawing discrimination in society as a whole, could have prevented companies from targeting their services at specific age groups.

The Commission’s plans are expected before the summer but Giles Chichester has ensured that they will focus only on achieving equal access for the disabled.

Following the concerns of the Conservatives, the Commission has said that there will no longer be a potential impact on the business model of companies offering holidays to specific age groups.

Mr Chichester said: “It shouldn’t be the job of any government to tell companies who they can and cannot sell to, however laudable the objectives might be.

“The lesson of the last twenty years is clear: people prosper when a free market prospers. Conservatives will also fight against laws which threaten successful businesses and therefore, jobs.”
