Cross border healthcare closer to reality

Brussels, 31st March 2009 -- Patients will have a clear and accessible system for which to seek hospital treatment in other EU countries, said John Bowis MEP, Conservative health spokesman and the European Parliament's draftsman on the cross border healthcare report, after MEPs in the environment and public health committee adopted his proposals today.

Mental health awareness must be raised

Brussels, 19th February 2009 -- At a cost of between three and four per cent of the EU's GDP, mental illness is a major problem that we must raise awareness of and combat the stigma associated with, John Bowis MEP, Conservative health spokesman in the European Parliament said today after MEPs adopted a report on the subject.
