A new system of support for fishing - to replace the European Fisheries Fund - contains good and bad news, Struan Stevenson, Conservative fisheries spokesman in the European Parliament said today.

EU shark-fin ban welcomed

The EU has finally proposed an outright ban on shark finning, in a move welcomed by European Parliament fisheries committee Vice-President Struan Stevenson MEP, a longstanding campaigner against the practice.

29th June 2011 -- The European Conservatives and Reformists group in the European Parliament has adopted its proposals for reform of the Common Fisheries Policy ahead of the unveiling of European Commission plans next month.The declaration was adopted following a debate with UK Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon MP.ECR fisheries coordinator Marek Gróbarczyk MEP and Vice-President of the EP’s fisheries committee Struan Stevenson MEP welcomed the proposals. Urgent action needed to crack down on business directory scams

Strasbourg, 9th June 2011 -- Small business owners are still suffering from the significant worry caused by underhand practices used by so-called business directories and the European Union needs to take action to ensure legislation is in place to close them down and prosecute, Struan Stevenson MEP, Conservative MEP for Scotland, said today.
